Editing with a Computer

Grammar, style, and spell checkers on your word processor can be helpful, but they must be used with caution. Checkers do not understand the meanings of words, and so they cannot do the work of an attentive and knowledgeable human reader. You cannot rely on these tools to edit your paper for you.
