The Writing Guide Software for The St. Martin's Guide contains one electronic writing guide for each of the main assignments in the book, with prompts that walk students step-by-step through the process of completing the assignment. At each point along the way, students have easy access to detailed instructions, student examples, and other useful support. At the end, students have a completed paper they can print, save, or turn in electronically. Additional tools include an electronic journal, a grammar diagnostic, skill tutorials, an error log, and easy access to onilne editing exercises. A demo version has been developed to give you an overview of the main features of the software. You can download it below. However, please note that we have provided only partial content (one chapter) and that certain features are not fully implemented. Also please be aware that not all aspects of the program have been fully tested - you may encounter some bugs along the way. Demo of The Writing Guide Software for The St. Martin's Guide For Windows (Please follow the directions below to install) For Mac Windows System Requirements Intel Pentium processor or compatible Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT 4 or later 12 MB of available RAM To Download and Install the Software (Windows) Download the demo from the Bedford/St. Martin's Web site by clicking on the link above and choosing a directory where you wish to save the download. This will save the necessary files to your computer. Find the downloaded folder and double-click the file SETUP.EXE to install the software on your computer. If you use the default settings, this program will install to C:\WRITINGGUIDE. If you find it necessary to change the installation directory, please only install to directories whose names do NOT contain a space. (NOTE: If the install directory name contains a space, e.g., "PROGRAM FILES," the program will encounter a problem when trying to open the useršs writing in the word processor. This is a known bug and will be fixed in subsequent versions of the software.) To Start the Software The installation procedure will create an icon named "St. Martin's Guide to Writing Demo 1.1," and a shortcut to this icon. Start the program by clicking on the icon or its shortcut; you can place the shortcut on your desktop for greater convenience. You can also start the program by clicking on "Start" in the taskbar at the bottom of your screen, then "Programs," then "Writing Guide for St. Martin's Guide to Writing Demo 1.1," and then the icon for the program.
