BIOGRAPHY
Andrew Hudgins (b. 1951) was born in Kileen, Texas, but was raised in Alabama. He attended Huntingdon College, received an M.A. from the University of Alabama, and an M.F.A. from the University of Iowa. Drawing inspiration from his southern childhood, Hudgins published his first collection of poetry Saints and Strangers in 1985, and in the following year the book was nominated for the Pulitzer prize. In 1988 he wrote a narrative poem about the life of confederate soldier Sidney Lanier titled After the Lost War which won the Poet's Prize. The Never Ending: New Poems, published in 1991, was a finalist for the National Book award. Hudgins has published two other poetry collections and a collection of personal essays, The Glass Anvil.
