Xu Gang   (1945- ) BIOGRAPHY Xu Gang (b. 1945) was born in Shanghai, China. He began writing poetry in support of the Cultural Revolution while serving in the army. Xu Gang gradually became disillusioned with the violent practices of the Cultural Revolution as a student at Beijing University. His collections of poems include The Flower of Rain, Songs for the Far Away, and One Hundred Lyricss.
