BIOGRAPHY
Cornelius Eady (b. 1954) was born in Rochester, New York. He published his first book of poetry, Kartunes, in 1980, and was immediately praised for his innovative use of language. His second collection, Victims of the Latest Dance Craze (1985), won the prestigious Lamont Poetry Award from the Academy of American Poets. He has published four other collections including The Gathering of My Name (1991), which was nominated for the Pulitzer prize. His other honors include the Prairie Schooner Strousse Award, and fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Guggenheim Foundation, and the Rockefeller Foundation. He is currently an associate professor of English and director of the Poetry Center at the State University of New York at Stony Brook.
