BIOGRAPHY
The prize-winning poet Stephen Dunn (b. 1939) was born in New York, New York. He received a B.A. in English and history from Hofstra University, where he also played varsity basketball. Dunn attended the New School Writing Workshops from 1964 to 1966 and then earned a Master of Arts in creative writing from Syracuse University. His first book of poems, Five Impersonations was published in 1971. Dunn has published 16 books of poetry over the course of his successful career, most recently Different Hours, for which he won the Pulitzer prize in 2001.
