BIOGRAPHY
Kelly Cherry (b. 1940) was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She received a B.A. from Mary Washington College and an M.F.A. from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She published her first work of fiction, Sick and Full of Burning, in 1974, closely followed by her first collection of poetry, Love and Agnostics, in 1975. Kelly Cherry is currently a professor of English at the University of Wisconsin and has won many awards including the Pushcart Prize, 1977; the National Endowment for the Arts fellowship, 1980; and the PEN/Syndicated Fiction Award, 1983.
