Bedford/St. Martin's is pleased to announce
that it has acquired two stellar franchises in history and
college success. For the western civilization and world history
courses, we now publish McKay, Hill, Buckler, Crowston, Wiesner-Hanks,
A History of Western Society; and McKay, Hill, Buckler,
Beck, Crowston, Ebrey, Wiesner-Hanks, A History of World
Societies. For college success courses, we now publish
Gardner, Jewler, Barefoot, Your College Experience;
and Your College Experience, Concise Ed.; and Step
by Step to College & Career Success.
Both franchises are highly successful, groundbreaking, and
beloved. Both have remarkable author teams and grew out of
the teaching experiences of their authors. It's a privilege
for Bedford/St. Martin's now to become their publisher.
The History of Western Society and The History
of World Societies were the first survey texts to bring
social history into the western civilization and world history
courses. Thanks to the authors' ongoing scholarship and engaging
writing, these books continue to be known for their vivid
coverage of what life was like throughout history.
John Gardner and his coauthors Jerome Jewler and Betsy Barefoot
are the most respected names in the field of college success.
In addition to teaching the course, they have founded two
highly influential education centers, including the Policy
Center on the First Year of College, based in Brevard, North
Carolina. The Your College Experience series has
had extraordinary success, helping generations of students
at all levels of schools cope with the demands of college.
These wonderful books fit well with our publishing philosophy
at Bedford/St. Martin's, emphasizing innovation, quality,
and a focus on the needs of students and instructors. We hope
to contribute to their future success with the care and attention
to detail we give every book we publish.
Bedford/St. Martin's and Cengage are working together to ensure
a smooth transition. Cengage will continue to provide fulfillment
and customer service for these books and supplements through
September 30, 2008. Instructors can contact Bedford/St. Martin's
with any service or support questions through their local
sales representative or by calling faculty services at
