Taking Notes on a Computer
If you take your notes on a computer, follow these guidelines:
-
Be sure you are very familiar with your word processing program.
-
Start each separate note on a new page.
-
Place one or more keywords on each page. These words indicate the part of your paper the note refers to.
-
Organize each group of pages with the same keywords into a single file.
-
The name for that file should be a major section of your paper.
-
Some notes may be placed in more than one file.
-
If you change the organization of your paper, the search function of your word processor can be used to reorganize your notes.
