Reading a Monograph
What is a monograph? While a textbook covers many aspects of history (economic, political, cultural, social) over a long period of time, a monograph is usually an in-depth study of a particular topic (such as Hollywood films during the 1930s or Italian Renaissance portraits) and has a particular point or argument to make about this topic. In a monograph, the author usually uses some primary sources.
