About the exercises (note to instructors)
The exercises on this Web site supplement A Writer's Guidebook. Instructors can assign them as needed, or students can work on their own. We have included a broad sample of exercises from each section.
To access the exercises:
1. Click on a category from the selection on the left.
2. A list of exercises for that category will appear in this space.
3. Click on the exercise you wish to complete.
How they work
Each exercise includes a reference to the pages in A Writer's Guidebook where students can find help with the grammatical concept or problem and brief instructions.
Students can e-mail exercises to their instructors by filling out the form at the bottom of the page with their name, e-mail address, and the instructor's e-mail address. Pressing SEND will submit the exercise.
The answers to even-numbered exercises are included and can be accessed by clicking a link at the bottom of the page.
NOTES:
CAUTION: If you check your answers before submitting an exercise, use the back button to go back to your current exercise. If you use the links on the answer key, your browser will load a NEW page, erasing your answers.
Cutting, pasting, and adding or deleting text may cause awkward line breaks which you can correct by backspacing.
Instructors To access the complete answer key for each exercise, please fill out this short form.
