Exercise 24 Redundancies and repetition Revise each sentence in the following paragraphs as necessary to eliminate any redundancy and repetition. The program that focuses on service learning is sponsored by the college. The program pairs together at-risk adolescent teens who are considered troubled, with elderly residents of a local nursing home in the same neighborhood as the college. College students who participate in the program serve as group leaders. The role of the group leader is to design activities for the program sessions, which are held every week, and to help the adolescent-elder partners to work together on them with one another. The philosophy behind the program is to mix together participants from different generations and backgrounds, to provide companionship and company for the elders, and to give the middle-schoolers a sense of pride and purpose.
