She studied voice with Leon Kurzer of the Vienna Opera and worked for a number of years as a singer and voice teacher. She now lives in Downeast, Maine, where she works as a free-lance writer. Her poetry has appeared in a wide variety of magazines and in several anthologies. She was a 1992 winner of the Nation's Discovery Award and the Judith's Room Award for emerging women poets.
