BIOGRAPHY
Kathryn Howd Machan (b. 1952) Machan grew up in Woodbury, Connecticut, and Pleasantville, New York. She studied creative writing and literature at the College of Saint Rose and at the University of Iowa, taught college for five years, then returned to graduate school for a Ph.D. in Interpretation (Performance Studies) at Northwestern University. She is now on the faculty of the Writing Program of Ithaca College, New York. For eight years she coordinated the Ithaca Community Poets and directed the national Feminist Women's Writing Workshops. Her poems have appeared in numerous magazines (such as Yankee, Nimrod, South Coast Poetry Journal, The Hollins Critic, Seneca Review, and Louisiana Literature), in literature anthologies (such as Early Ripening: American Women's Poetry Now, I Am Becoming the Woman I've Wanted, Writing Poems, and The Bedford Introduction to Literature), and in numerous published collections.
