Careful planning is crucial. Think about who your readers are, why they are visiting your site, and what they already know about your subject. Do they want to print the information? To follow links to other sites? Do they all speak English? Do they have any disabilities that you need to be aware of?

The Glaucoma Foundation
The Glaucoma Foundation's site is addressed to health-care professionals and others interested in the eye disease.

Because some of the site's readers may have vision impairment, the site uses large, easy-to-read type.

The site includes a link to a page showing users how to configure their hardware to make the text even larger.
